I must say that I was truly shocked at all of the negative comments. I see that this site is not affiliated with any service, so I really do not know where these people come from. My husband and I use Texas Cellnet and have for 3 years + now. They were located in Canton, TX - but have now relocated to Van. We live in the city of Van, and that may have something to do with our service, but the tower is huge and is rarely out. Yes, there are some outages - for example today, but it snowed in texas - that is bound to happen, same as the electricity going out. Also, I was very nervous about dish internet - because we all know how often the satelite dish will go out during storms, etc - but we have not experienced those problems. I have and will continue to recommend Texas Cellnet to my friends/family. Also, any time that I have picked up the phone - during normal business hours - I have always gotten a very friendly HUMAN. And a human that speaks english I might add, which is rare these days. Dial up is frustrating, I have had DSL through Embarq at another address which was slow and frustrating. I am sad that you guys had bad experiences, but to anyone who is reading this - in the city limits of Van there have been no problems or complications. Thank you.

From Carazariah:

Thanks Isabella! I agree that Wimax will most likely make a definite impact in both the penetration of broadband Internet and quite a speed boost. But we must not forget LTE (Long Term Evolution) while it is a little slower to the starting gate its promised 100MB speed and largely similar footprint to Wimax while being backed by AT&T and Verizon in the US assure it will be a major player as well in Wireless Broadband in the United States. It well may be that small providers are gobbled up by the larger Wireless companies and many will move to Wimax or LTE to enhance customer service and their footprints to every corner of America.

I've been on the waiting list from Feb. 2009 - now June 2009. I was number 15 on the list of installs. I will not wait any longer for this company. I will go to Hughes or someone else!

Sprint, Clearwire in WiMax network pact

The deal also eased some concerns over how Clearwire, founded by wireless pioneer Craig McCaw, would have the money to build out its network to compete with bigger rivals.

"We would reasonably expect to see lower capital expenditure budgets over the next couple of years, thus also reducing Clearwire's longer term funding needs," said Stifel Nicolaus analyst Christopher King in a client note.

Texas Cell Net, as John mentions above, is a joke. I had dial up for 10 years.I really thought it sucked, until I got Texas Cell Net. Here is the truth about TCN.
1) Internet is up probably about 60% of the time
2) TCN will NOT return your phone calls
3) TCN are the RUDEST people I have found. They make the customer pay for one months worth of service $53, then won't "pro-rate" everyone's monthly bill, when TCN is only providing 60% of what they are supposed to.
4) TCN ALWAYS has the same excuse and instead of being like people ought to be and answer the phone when customers want answers, they simply put on this recording "We are experiencing technical difficulities. Please check your connection periodically,as there is no time frame as to when the internet will be back on". What a crook o' crap.

Stand up and be a man, mister owner of the company. Instead of pockleting all those millions, SPEND some of it on AMERICAN made servers that won't break down on a daily basis. Grab your nads and ANSWER THE PHONE like a man, instead of hiding behind a answering machine.
If I can ever find a more reliable ISP, I will use it and I will make sure I let everyone I know that uses TCN, to get off TCN and get on the more reliable provider, that actually cares about it's customers, instead of the bottom line only. I rate TCN as the most pathetic company I have ever used. No stars, thumbs down. Use them only as a last resort
