From: dailywireless.org » Rural Broadband Gets A Plan
According to Daily Wireless, the Universal Service Fund is broken Big time!
This hard hitting article quotes Congressional representatives knocking the lack of good rural broadband access, and the ineptitude of the administration of the fund, which was setup to provide Rural Internet access.
This may be little surprise to you my faithful Find Wireless Internet readers, but a survey quoted in the article indicates only “and just one out of sixty-nine loans went to wiring a region without any broadband service whatsoever.”
In fact the study quoted found that “. . .more than half the funds instead went to urban broadband deployment, . . . “
So what do you think should Congress step in and fix the Universal Service Fund?
Is it Congress and the Government’s job at all to provide rural broadband access?
What are your thoughts and comments?

Clearwire announced yesterday their completion of a legal hurdle by the FCC on-line at www.clearwire.com This announcement has cleared the way for them to offer true WIMAX broadband PCMIA and laptop cards for the services nationwide over the Clearwire network.
This is good new for those seeking rural broadband access as Clearwire is constantly improving their network coverage and should get even greater range and mobility as they deploy WIMAX capability.
This information was found at ENGADGET and verified online at www.clearwire.com
Keep your eyes open and look to another alternative for broadband to pop up in your area!
